چکیده

Schizophrenia (SZ) is one of the most disabling mental illness and elucidation diagnostic therapeutic biomarkers are required. Recent studies investigating brain morphology, gene expression profile, genetic epidemiology have suggested involvement Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) its epigenetic regulation in pathophysiology SZ. The current study was conducted to determine association DNA methylation BDNF with diagnosis or characteristics patients We analyzed genomic from peripheral blood 22 SZ healthy subjects. rates (DMRs) CpG island at promoter exón I were measured using EpiTYPER® MassARRAY® system (Agena Biosciences). examined validity profiles as a biomarker for by clustering analyses, differences DMRs between controls, relationship patient characteristics. analysis failed distinguish controls SZ, though 4 units significantly different these two groups. Whereas DMR (CpG 28) correlated amount daily antipsychotics, there no influence age, severity, duration on gene. Despite small number subjects, our results suggest changes

Chemical Alterations – Peripheral Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a neurotrophin that regulates neuronal survival and growth during development. Effects of BDNF on neuronal transmission in the hippocampus, cortex, cerebellum and basal forebrain are important for learning and memory processes [1]. Reduced BDNF may affect synaptic efficiency and connectivity in schizophrenia that is hypothesized to underpin signs and ...

Effect of Lithium on Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) Level in Patients with Ischemic Stroke: A Clinical Trial

Background and Objectives: Previous studies have indicated that lithium may increase the level of the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which in turn improves the recovery of patients with stroke. In this controlled trial we evaluated the effect of lithium on BDNF serum level in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods: In this randomized controlled...

Involvement of Mice Hippocampus Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor in Diazinon-induced Depressive Behavior in Mice

Background: Diazinon (Dzn), an Organophosphorus (OP) pesticide, is extensively used in agriculture. Acetylcholinesterase inhibition is linked to OP toxicity, and there are major mental health concerns associated with the use of pesticides. The objective of this study was to assess the depressive behavior in an animal model following their exposure to Dzn and the effect on the Brain-Derived Neur...

P36: Role of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor in Pathogenesis and Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a syndrome causing from a severe traumatic happening that leads to threatened death or injury. PTSD is associated with changes in limbic, hippocampal, and prefrontal cortical region function due to changes in synaptogenesis, dendritic modifying, and neurogenesis. Changes in neuron in PTSD patients result from pathophysiological disturbances in inflammato...

Assessment of oxidative stress parameters of brain-derived neurotrophic factor heterozygous mice in acute stress model

Objective(s): Exposing to stress may be associated with increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Therefore, high level of oxidative stress may eventually give rise to accumulation of oxidative damage and development of numerous neurodegenerative diseases. It has been presented that brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) supports neurons against various neurodegenerative conditio...
